Based in Redlands, California, the Redlands High School Acadec team competes in the annual Academic Decathlon competition. Since 1984, our team has established itself as one of the top teams in San Bernardino county.
We compete in Academic Decathlon, an academic extracurricular competition that focuses on a wide range of topics including art, economics, literature, math, music, science, social science, essay, speech, and interview. The theme changes each year and the individual subjects are centered around the theme. Each team is composed of Honors, Scholastic, and Varsity students, each defined by a certain GPA category.
"I joined Acadec freshman year thinking I’d come out 'smarter', but I didn’t expect that in addition to leaving me with effective study habits, lifetime friends, and an in-depth knowledge about global affairs, it would end up completely transforming my perception of learning. As a melting pot of students with varying skill sets and perspectives, Acadec taught me that learning is both collaborative and interdisciplinary. Through group interaction and discussion, Acadec facilitated a uniquely competitive yet collaborative safe space for learning."
